AFF is a marketing machine these days. Their banners are literally everywhere. It's getting to be a bit much, actually. AFF claims to be "The world's largest sex and swinger personals website," with over 9 million active members. There were 58,000 online when we visited. AFF serves people looking for "sexual encounters" encompassing everything from vanilla to fetish, with searches that take varied proclivities into account. This is the place for married people to meet each other for "friendships with benefits," where recently divorced mid-lifers search for the wildness they feel with great resentment that they missed, and where young people wanting to experiment find willing instructors. You can be as explicit as you want in your ad. Just post your sexy pics (a must on a personals site if you really want to meet people), leave a voice greeting and fill out their extensive profile template (allow at least half an hour to get all this set up). Since Sir Rodney is in a long-term relationship we relied on a single (female) friend to find out how effective AFF is at getting users hooked up off line (the only real measure of success for a personals site). She got a "gazillion" responses to her ad, mostly from attached men seeking causual, no-strings sex. We invite users of AFF to share their experiences, so we can better inform our readers. Most of the female "standard" (i.e. non-pay) members are bots phishing for email addresses to spam you to death. When you go to AFF, you are hit with a start page that has several video frames of women that are supposedly from your area. This is utter bullshit. As a Gold member, I have personally looked up every single username associated with each of those videos, and all of those usernames are invalid. They are just using your IP address to find out where you are located, picking an old invalid username, and pairing it with a chick's video. Several of the paying female and transexual "Gold" members have pictures posted that are identical to escort pictures found on craiglist and eros. If you are a guy, most of the profile views & emails you get will be from someone who joined yesterday & their account was suspended because of inappropriate activity---i.e. they are scamming. If you read the profiles of hot women who have pictures posted, you will see a repetitive theme. Many of them cut & paste the same phrases such as, "I feel most free when I am driving in my car" and "I'm not looking to change my life, I'm just looking to spice it up". In other words, you are dealing with fakes even if they are silver or gold members. AFF is pretty slick with how they suck you into paying for their service-- as a standard member you really don't have the ability to read a bunch of profiles or look at pictures to figure out that it is a giant phishing/scam site. Also, once you pay for the site & start searching your local area, you'll see that the 20,000 women "in your area" are listed profiles on the site. But if you look at most of their "last logged in/last visited AFF", you'll see that it will say "More than 3 months". So ultimately you are left with your dick in your hand, sending lots of emails, sending winks & hotlisting profiles. In other words, AFF is 95% bullshit. Most of the real women are married, white, and looking for only black cock. If you are a married guy & looking to get some strange, you'll get very used to seeing this phrase-- "IF YOU ARE MARRIED, DO NOT CONTACT ME UNLESS YOUR WIFE TELLS ME IT IS OK". The site upsells you as well. Once you become a Gold member, every time you log in, you are hit with a splash screen asking you to upgrade your account. Such as, purchase a service to allow non-paying members to contact you. Highlight your profile with gold fringes to get more people to notice your profile. Purchase their porn videos-on-demand. The ONLY redeeming quality of AFF Gold membership is being able to access their live member webcams & browsing the member-submitted videos. You'll be really lucky if any of them are within driving distance, but, it is kind of neat to see people broadcasting themselves & putting up real videos. Not worth the $100 bucks a year though(if you pay for gold membership up front). Don't buy into the advertising hype. You are better off spending your money on porn & a fleshlight.
