Erotic Japan bills itself as "The Hottest Asian Mega Site." Given the Japanese fascination for all things pornographic, this is a pretty heady claim. So what does Erotic Japan offer to back it up? First things first: On the main member's page, Erotic Japan offers links to six key links. They are Japan Girls, AV Girls, Movies, More Japans, Hentai, Manga & Comics.Under Japan Girls are 63 separate photo galleries of -- you guessed it -- Japanese girls, by themselves (sometimes in bondage), with guys, or with other women. The number of photos per set varies from 8 to 78, with most in the double digits. As for the content and quality, there's a real mix of softcore and hardcore, with good photo composition but not terribly high picture resolution. At times we weren't sure if we were viewing a porn site or a fashion spread. A similar lineup exists for Japan AV stars, this time with 187 sets of photos ranging from 1 to 209 photos. All the sets are single girl, offering a diverse range of beautiful Oriental women (is there any other kind?).
The Movie section offers 22 hardcore movies, mainly male/female, with some occasional anal sex thrown in, and a handful of accompanying screen shots for each video set. They are typically around 20 minutes in length each, and only available as full-length clips, un-segmented. The high-quality videos come in at 640x480, 832 Kbps, with a 4:3 aspect ratio. Note that the videos are uncensored, meaning the genitals and explicit action are not pixelated out, unlike most other Japanese porn sites. The movies stream or download in an on-screen window at either Windows Media High or Low resolutions, apparently DRM-free. You can also download them at various resolutions for your iPod, cellphone, or PlayStation.
The "More Japans" link takes you to a page of various links to Asian Girl-Girl, five 'channels' of Asia Carrera, XXX-rated puzzles, and Naughty Whispers text erotica, among others. Hentai links to three pages of Japanese cartoon nude stills sets; think Sailor Moon better drawn and definitely more interesting to watch! Manga and Comics goes to 102 sets of Japanese X-rated comic books such as Femme Kabuki and For the Boys. One nice touch is that certain series are included, so that you can follow the... story. Add a search engine and a 'Most Visited' links section, and Erotic Japan is quite complete.
Sir Rodney did enjoy the Manga page. However, we were disappointed at the mid-level resolution of the photo sets, and would like to have seen much of the content be more explicit. Add more rawness and higher resolution, and Erotic Japan would be a real find. As it is now, it is good value for the money, but not a standout.
