Porn Classics delivers on its promise by presenting over 150 full-length, well known, top-notch vintage porn flicks from 1960 through 1990, however the presentation is somewhat crude and may not be to all viewers' satisfaction.
The Porn Classics site takes you back to a time when the personal computer was just barely on the horizon and when xxx movies that gained notoriety were actually shown in legitimate movie theaters. Some of the best known classics are here, including The Devil In Miss Jones, Debbie Does Dallas and the biggest box office suck-cess of all, Deep Throat, starring the amazing oral talent, Linda Lovelace. This was a time where almost 95% of porn was produced and filmed in Hollywood and although production values were miniscule, at least there was an attempt at costumes, lighting, and makeup. The acting and scripting were so poor it was hard to tell if the humor was intentional or caused by atrocious, over-the-top and badly acted dialog. Music, such as presented, could only be heard in a period elevator and might make you retch. Oh, but the sex was very hot even by today's standards. Peformers like Jon Holmes, Christy Canyon, and Marilyn Chambers show that the sex was just as raunchy then as now. In fact, some stars such as Annie Sprinkles were pushing the envelope by actually pissing on camera.
If only the mechanics of the site were as good as the flicks. Although these flicks have been digitized, they were originally shot on 8mm film and the prints copied must have been around 42nd Street a few times, as they show the wear. Quality is very poor, but you can't blame that on the webmasters. What you can blame on the webmasters is the fact that movies cannot be downloaded by any normal means and the streaming only makes quality even worse. We must also warn you that the flicks are divided into at least five sections and that a very few, except for the first fifteen minutes are only presented in a separate upscale section on a pay-per-view basis. This premium upsell is much more expensive, however all flicks in the VOD area can be downloaded to disk or DVD and the quality is better.
All-in-all, Sir Rodney recommends this retro site at the 30 buck price point in spite of its warts. Regardless of why you join this site--for a great throwback stag party, for a laugh when you're down, to relive the past, or to jerk your pud, it is great to see these movies all collected in one place. Those of you who have not been decimated by the recent economic troubles should opt for the VOD, but only for the videos that you absolutely must have as collectors' items, lest you go broke.
